Selecting a Child Care Provider
At Kawartha Child Care Services, we understand the importance of selecting the best early childhood education and care provision available. We encourage you to read through this material and learn why Kawartha Child Care Services is the natural choice for your child care needs.
Kawartha Child Care Services Programs
At Kawartha Child Care Services your child will spend each day in an engaging environment carefully planned by our qualified educators. Through observing and engaging with each child, our educators create an environment that builds on your child's knowledge of the world. Through inspiring learning centres and activities, our playrooms are designed to encourage literacy, scientific discovery, creative art, sensory exploration, mathematical concepts, physical competence and positive social relationships.
Our team of nurturing and caring Early Childhood Educators believe that supporting children's interests and curiosity will further inspire the learning process. Through observing, documenting and engaging with children, the staff plan curriculum that is both meaningful and rewarding.
Kawartha Child Care Services supports educators and staff's ongoing learning by providing:
- internal and external professional development and training
- opportunities to reflect and collaborate together
- an extensive library of resources and materials
These opportunities and experiences allow our staff and educators to deepen their thinking and understanding of child-centred emergent curriculum.
General Curriculum Statement:
At Kawartha Child Care Services we believe:
- children are competent, full of wonder and ideas with rights instead of needs
- we view curriculum as everything that happens during our time together
- we believe that each moment we share with children offers us time to build relationships and create an atmosphere that nurtures children, teachers, and families
- we support children to pursue their passions and interests and provide an environment that invites children to explore, collaborate, reflect and communicate using a wide range of media
Primary Care Statement:
Our goal is to build primary secure attachments with the children in our care so that they feel safe and confident to explore the world around them.
At Kawartha Child Care Services we believe that relationships between staff, children, families and community are an important aspect of the overall curriculum.
Given the value placed on relationships, we implemented the Primary Caregiver Model in our programs. Primary care simply means that your child will have someone special (primary caregiver) with whom he or she will be able to build a stronger more intimate relationship.
This will allow staff to build stronger relationships with both children and families and provide for the individual program needs of their group.
Primary care will also help to facilitate journal writing and record keeping.
It is important to note that although children will be grouped with one primary caregiver, all staff are responsible for the overall planning and organization of the playroom and will work together as a team to ensure that the needs of all children and families are being met.
Financial Assistance
You may qualify for a fee subsidy that would assist with the cost of licensed child care for children from birth to age 12. If you are eligible for a fee subsidy, your child care fees could be partially or fully covered. Subsidies are available for a variety of child care settings.
