Kawartha Child Care Services is licensed by the Ministry of Children and Youth Services to offer home child care programs in Peterborough City and County and the City of Kawartha Lakes. Child care providers are self-employed and provide care in their own homes for up to 5 children from infants to 12 years of age.
Kawartha Child Care Services carefully screens and supports child care providers to ensure that they provide safe, quality learning programs. We also provide ongoing professional development and training to providers.
We support families by:
- offering ongoing support during the selection process and while your child is in care
- ensuring a criminal reference check is completed for all adults in the home
- requiring and supporting all providers to hold a current first-aid and child CPR certificate
- conducting monthly visits and regular home safety inspections
- providing equipment, resources and toys to ensure children's safety and encourage early learning
